Hartikainen signs Entry Level Contract

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with left-winger Teemu Hartikainen on a three-year NHL entry level contract.

Hartikainen, the Oilers 6th round choice, 163rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, recently completed his second season with KalPa Kuopio of the Finnish National League scoring 33 points (15G, 18A) in 53 games.

The 6’1”, 210lbs native of Kuopio, Finland, was fifth in team scoring this season and tied for third in goals for KalPa. He got off to a quick start in the 2010 playoffs scoring four goals and adding an assist in the first five games. He finished the post-season with six goals and an assist in 12 games.

Hartikainen also appeared in the World Junior Championship in 2009 and 2010 for Finland. In 12 WJC games the big winger collected 15 points (7G, 8A) and 55 shots on goal.
