Happy New Year

by Tom Gilbert / Edmonton Oilers
Now that I'm back into the regular routine I guess I'd better start the New Year off right with an excellent blog. Thanks for all your Christmas wishes and I hope you all had a good holiday. My Christmas was great. I managed to get back home and visit with my family so that was awesome. We had a big dinner and lots of board games, which is usually what we do. We always get new games every year and this year we got a game that was similar to Balderdash. I can't remember what it was called but it was fun.

On Christmas Day the entire family went to see Marley and Me. We had our own little private booth at the theater so that was kind of cool. All the women in my family were crying obviously but it was actually a pretty good movie. Kyle tells me he wants to see it so maybe I'll go see it again. He'll cry for sure.

After the movie I had to head to the airport and hop on a flight to Vancouver. The flight went through Seattle and it turned out to be an eight hour trip. I finally arrived at about 1:30 in the morning but I got a good sleep and was good to go for the game on Boxing Day.

The web guys asked me about my New Year's Resolution today and I'm proud to say that I have two of them. The first is to make my bed every day. We'll see how that goes. And the second is to read two books every month. It's easy to do when we're travelling because we're on the plane so much but when I'm at home I watch way too much TV so this will hopefully help with that problem. My mom gave me her favourite book for Christmas (The Shack) and I'm almost done that already. Two days into the New Year and I'm right on track.

I've got some running around to do so I will wrap this up. Talk to you next week.
