EDMONTON, AB - Dylan Holloway will be heading home to Alberta with some momentum after scoring for the Wisconsin Badgers in their NCAA season opener on Friday.
The Oilers 14th-overall selection at last month's NHL Draft will be travelling to Red Deer later this weekend to attend Hockey Canada's selection camp for World Juniors, which begins on Monday.
The Badgers are playing their first games of the slightly-delayed 2020-21 Big Ten season with a back-to-back in South Bend, Indiana, against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Wisconsin won 2-0 on Friday and the teams will face off again on Saturday.
Buffalo Sabres 2017 draft pick Linus Weissbach made it 1-0 Badgers in the first before Holloway padded the lead in the middle frame on the power play, ripping home a wrist shot from the high slot.
Holloway was named third star of the game, recording three shots on goal and winning 10 of his 14 faceoffs. The Bragg Creek native scored eight goals and nine assists in 35 games as a freshman with Wisconsin last season.
He will be one of 27 forwards vying for a spot on Team Canada for the IIHF World U-20 Championship that will be contested Dec. 25 to Jan. 5 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
