EDMONTON, AB - Hayden Hawkey is good at...

Hockey.

The Providence netminder was named a 2019 Mike Richter Award semifinalist on Thursday, an honour that goes to the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men's hockey.

The Oilers goalie prospect ended the 2018-19 campaign with a 21-9-5 record, seven shutouts as well as a 1.77 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.

"Looking back at the previous three years, the biggest thing I've been able to learn and take away each day has been the experience I've had playing in all types of situations," the senior, who reflected on his season to EdmontonOilers.com this week, said. "You learn a lot from the successes you've had, and even more from the mistakes you've made in the past."

Hawkey was acquired by the Oilers on June 23, 2018 in a deal that saw Edmonton trade a 2019 fifth-round selection to Montreal for the keeper.
