Milan Lucic has been around the League long enough to see what's needed from a team in the stretch drive of any particular season.
When the veteran leader takes a look at the Oilers and where they stand one week into March, the one thing he'd like to see fine-tuned moving forward above all else isn't a physical thing, it's mental.
"I think it's just the mental approach," he said. "Being ready to play from when the puck drops, not letting frustration kick in. Sometimes when frustration kicks in, you try to do more. Just trusting in the game plan, trusting in the system the coaches have installed throughout the whole season, and I think having that mental approach will put us where we want to be after game 82."
Edmonton sits second in the Pacific Division with 78 points this season, and a record of 35-23-8. They host the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday at 7 PM MT.
