The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to congratulate Edmonton City Council and the Katz Group on the progress they have achieved towards getting a final agreement on ensuring the construction of a new downtown arena.
The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce has been a long-time and vocal supporter of this project due to its potential impact on Edmonton's downtown revitalization. The negotiated agreement that was ratified by Council earlier today will, no doubt, help solidify Edmonton as both an architectural and design leader, as well as a sports and entertainment hub. This perfectly aligns with the Chamber’s efforts to promote Edmonton through its Great Northern City strategic priority.
“On behalf of our approximately 3,000 members, representing a strong voice for business in our city, the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce would like to thank both sides for their forward vision and we look forward to this terrific addition to our city’s downtown core,” said Chamber board chair Ken Barry. “This world class downtown arena, with a unique northern look and feel will cultivate a new downtown culture, attracting business and residential development to an area with vast potential.”
While this announcement represents one project that is sure to add to the flavour of our city, the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce is committed to working with all stakeholders towards highlighting the importance of downtown revitalization for our Great Northern City.
