General Manager Craig MacTavish announced today the Edmonton Oilers have selected the following players in the 2013 NHL Draft:

Darnell Nurse – D (1st round, 7th overall) – Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)

Nurse, 18, appeared in 68 games, posting a career high in both goals and assists (12-29-41), while recording 116 penalty minutes in 2012-13. In six playoff games, he tallied four points (1G, 3A) and six penalty minutes. Nurse was the OHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year for 2012-13 after carrying an 85% average in six Grade 12 University Prep courses.
Marc-Olivier Roy – RW (2nd round, 56th overall) – Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL)

Roy, 18, has spent the past two seasons with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2012-13 Roy posted 67 points (29G, 38A) in 65 games, he also recorded 19 points (6G, 13A) in 15 playoff games.
Bogdan Yakimov – C (3rd round, 83rd overall) – Reaktor Nizhnekamsk (VHL)

The 6’4”, 201-pound Yakimov spent time with three Russian Elite League teams this season. The 18 year old centre finished the 2012-13 campaign with Reaktor Nizhnekamsk of the Molodezhnaya Khokkeinaya Liga (MHL), posting 13 points (6G, 7A) in 11 games.
Anton Slepyshev – LW (3rd round, 88th overall) – Ufa (KHL)

A Penza, Russia native, Slepyshev has spent the past two seasons with Metallurg Novokuznetsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. The 6’2”, 194-pound, winger has posted 10 points (7G, 3A) in 44 career games in the KHL.
Jackson Houck – RW (4th round, 94th overall) – Vancouver Giants (WHL)

Houck, 18, has spent the past two seasons as a member of the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League. In 2012-13, the North Vancouver, British Columbia native tallied 57 points (23G, 34A) in 69 games. He also posted four assists in six games during in the 2012-13 playoffs.
Kyle Platzer – C (4th round, 96th overall) – London (OHL)

Platzer, 18, has spent the past two seasons in the OHL as a member of the London Knights. The 5’11”, 184-pound winger recorded 22 points (5G, 17A) in 65 games during the 2012-13 campaign.
Aidan Muir – LW (4th round, 113th overall) – Victory Honda U18 Midget (MWEHL)

Muir, 17, spent the 2012-13 season playing midget AAA in Detroit recording 40 points (17G, 23A) in 37 games in the Midwest Elite Hockey League. The Brampton, Ontario native has committed to play at Western Michigan University in the NCAA in the 2015-16 season.
Evan Campbell – LW (5th round, 128th overall) – Langley Rivermen (BCHL)

Campbell, 20, has played four seasons in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League. He spent the 2012-13 season with the Langley Rivermen posting 66 points (20G, 46G) and 46 penalty minutes in 51 games.
Ben Betker – D (6th round, 158th overall) – Everett Silvertips (WHL)

A 6’5”, 200-pound defenceman, Betker spent the 2012-13 season with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips accumulating six points (1G, 5A) and 100 penalty minutes in 68 games this season.
Greg Chase – C (7th round, 188th overall) – Calgary Hitmen (WHL)

The Sherwood Park, Alberta native, Chase has played three seasons with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. The 6’0, 195-pound centre appeared in 69 games in 2012-13 registering 49 points (17G, 32A) and 58 penalty minutes.
