Dinner with the Coglianos

by Tom Gilbert / Edmonton Oilers
I don't have very much to write about but it's been a few weeks since I last gave you an update so I should probably put something down.

The main thing I have to mention is about our most recent road trip. It's always nice to play in Canadian cities in front of Canadian fans and Toronto and Montreal are some of the coolest cities to visit. We had an okay trip. We didn't play too well in Ottawa and came up a bit short at the end.

A highlight of the trip was our team dinner in Montreal and that was nice. It's always fun to get together like that on the road and enjoy a nice meal.

As delicious as that meal was it couldn't compare to the meal I enjoyed in Toronto. Andrew invited me over to his house the night before the game. They're an Italian family so has about 40 cousins. Dinner was at 6:30 and these waves of family members would come in, grab a bite to eat, visit a little bit and then head out because more family members were coming in. So dinner lasted from 6 until about 9 or 10. I met more cousins, uncles, aunts and friends of his than I probably know in my own family. He's a big celebrity back home so he was the star of the night.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Andrew's parents for having me over and letting me watch hockey at their house. I had a really nice time.

I haven't seen any movies recently but I did finish my Denis Leary book last night. I enjoyed it. I'm a bit behind on my New Year's resolution, but I think two books in less than three months is pretty good. I'm not sure which one I will read next. I'm open to suggestions.
