For Oilers prospect and defenceman Brandon Davidson, the past year has been full of overcoming adversity.
Head Coach Todd Nelson said earlier this week that “nothing has ever been handed to him,” and that Davidson has had to fight and earn everything he has.
Davidson earned the right to wear the Captain letter on his sweater tonight in the Oilers Rookies game against Winnipeg. It was an honour for the young prospect.
“It was a tremendous honour and it’s something that I’ll never forget,” said Davidson after the game.
But the 22 year-old is not satisfied with wearing the letter on a temporary basis and in a lone prospects tournament. He has high aspirations.
“It’s not the Edmonton Oilers ‘C’ but it’ll do for now and I am just extremely happy and proud to be wearing it.”
