On December 11, business leaders and Oilers supporters from around Oil Country came together for the 10th Annual Christmas Bureau Copper Jackets Luncheon to give back to the community during the Holidays. Over 650 people attended the luncheon at the Shaw Conference Centre in support of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton to provide a festive meal for Edmonton’s less fortunate during Christmas season.
“This event has been a tremendous success. We started as a small event with 65 to 80 people and now we are hosting a luncheon with over 600 attendants,” said Bryan Ryder, President of the Copper Jackets. “Kevin Lowe and the Oilers Ladies have been supporting this charity for many years and we are proud to play a part in the Christmas Bureau’s success.”
The Luncheon featured both live and silent auctions, with items ranging from an exclusive dinner for ten in the Oilers dressing room, a trip with the Oilers when they travel to Palm Springs, to a Rock Star experience with two tickets to U2. The live auction raised $63,800 alone.
“The Copper Jackets are critical to the success of the Christmas Bureau,” said Dianne Brown, Campaign Director of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton. “It has been wonderful to watch the success of this event grow over the years and the support from the Copper Jackets goes beyond this event.”
The Copper Jackets are the official corporate ambassadors of the Edmonton Oilers and are a proactive group of business leaders in the community with a personal commitment to Edmonton. In addition to their commercial goals for the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, the Copper Jackets work year round to spread goodwill and give back to the community. This luncheon in support of the Christmas Bureau raises over $100,000 annually; and they are also strong supporters of the Reading…Give It a Shot program.
The Copper Jackets always welcoming new members as they are dedicated to strengthening their support to the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club. For more information on the Copper Jackets, please visit the community page.
