Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan and Assistant Coach Jay Woodcroft served in those same capacities with Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Toronto back in September.

Along with them, Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper served as an assistant. As Cooper reflects on his time with McLellan and Woodcroft, he says it was a fun experience and applauds the Oilers coaches' attention to detail and knowledge of the game.
"To work with other professionals in the League, especially of their calibre, it was a phenomenal experience for me," said Cooper. "They were extremely prepared. Their knowledge of players, how they play was just impressive. You could rip off some random player in the League who was playing for Team Europe and they'd know whether they shot right or left, and it's pretty impressive. All those things coupled with them being a couple great guys. That was a fun group. Everyone talks about the kids and how fun they were to coach, but it was a fun staff to be around as well."
