The Alaska Aces scored two-unanswered goals to take the series lead in the ECHL Western Conference Finals with a 2-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in game one.

Chris Collins got Bakersfield on the board at 14:45 of the second period. He was assisted by Wes Cunningham and Matt Thurber.

Through two periods the Condors held firm with Edmonton Oilers prospect Laurent Brossoit stopping all 23 shots through the first 40 minutes.

Early in the third period, Alaska would tie things up as a rebound found its way over the goal line and past Brossoit. Evan Trupp scored the game-tying goal and was assisted by one-time Oklahoma City Barons defenceman Kane Lafranchise and Nick Mazzolini 53 seconds into the period.

The Aces would then get a goal from Jordan Morrison with 2:29 remaining in the game to take the 2-1 lead. They’d close things out and take a 1-0 series lead over the Oilers affiliate.

Brossoit finished the game with 33 saves.

Game two is Saturday night in Anchorage.
