EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Cooper Marody (University of Michigan, Big Ten) from Philadelphia in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, previously acquired from New Jersey.
Marody, 21, is completing his third season with the University of Michigan (Big Ten), leading the conference in scoring with 46 points (14G, 32A) in 37 games. The native of Brighton, MI becomes the third Wolverine to win the Big Ten scoring title, after Zach Hyman (2015) and Kyle Connor (2016).
The 6'0", 190-pound forward was also named First Team All-Big Ten, as selected by a panel of Big Ten coaches and media.
Marody and the Wolverines, ranked 10th in the most recent U.S. Men's College Hockey poll, are taking part in the NCAA Northeast Regional this weekend in Worcester, Mass., facing #8 Northeastern on Saturday, March 24.
Marody was originally selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round, 158th overall, of the 2015 NHL Draft.
