Busy summer ahead for Oilers

Oilers forward Zack Stortini is looking forward to his second summer in Edmonton and supporting some of his favourite charities, including the Edmonton Humane Society.
Although summer doesn't officially start for three more weeks, for most Edmontonians, the May Long Weekend marks the beginning of the sunniest season.

NHL hockey is off the Oilers schedule until September, but the summer offers little rest and relaxation for the organization. As the days heat up, so does the community event calendar.

Following the success of the Oilers Hockey Clinic in Bonnyville in mid-May, the Event Team will bring the copper and blue spirit to nearly a dozen festivals, fairs and sporting events around Oil Country starting in June. Oilers players, alumni and organizational mascots Louie and Razzle will also make special appearances as the summer progresses.

According to Trevor Murphy, Manager of Fan and Community Development, the organization is proud to participate in Oil Country's greatest summer celebrations.

"The summer season is a chance for us to visit communities around Oil Country and say thank you to the fans who are such an important part of the Oilers Organization," Murphy said. "This summer will be an exciting one for the Oilers and we look forward to seeing the fans at festivals and events over the coming months."

Oilers forward Zack Stortini is excited about spending his second summer in the Capital City.

"You just can't beat summertime in Edmonton -- the weather is great and there's so many things to do," Stortini said. "I met some really great people last summer and I'm looking forward to getting out into the community this summer as well."

See below for a list of events the Oilers will be attending this summer, and be sure to visit regularly for photos, videos, and recaps of all the action in Oil Country.
