Oilers rookie forward Tyler Pitlick had an up and down game today against Phoenix. The good was that he played well, scoring his first career NHL goal which gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead in the first period.
However, Pitlick would leave the game in the second period with a left knee injury and did not return.
Oilers Head Coach Dallas Eakins said this after the game:
"He's hurt, he didn't come back in the game, and that's not a good sign. We'll either call somebody up or we may just go with seven (defencemen)."
Eakins says that it was unfortunate to see Pitlick go down as he was having a good game.
"He does the simple things. He gets pucks deep and he goes after the body. We're asking our guys to shoot the puck from all angles, and he's doing it. It was tough for the kid to leave the game like that."
