EDMONTON, AB - Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett plans on speaking to current Oilers Assistant Coaches Trent Yawney, Glen Gulutzan and Manny Viveiros before making any coaching decisions.

The new bench boss explained his plan of action Tuesday during his press conference.

"What I've talked to Ken (Holland) about, is I thought it was right that I talk to the coaches here first," Tippett said. "I haven't reached out to anybody about any other jobs."

Tippett said he's known all three Oilers assistants over his years around the game of hockey and felt it was only right to speak with them first.

"I know all three guys," Tippett continued. "I know (Glen) Gulutzan, (Trent) Yawney and (Manny) Viveiros. I've had relationships with them in the past and want to talk to them first to see where they are at and go through the process with them. That's where it will start. I haven't done anything about any other coaches.

"I thought it was fair to talk to them first."
