BLOG: Talbot lauds Brossoit's performance

Backup netminder made 19 saves on 19 shots in just under 38 minutes after coming in relief for Talbot against the Canucks

EDMONTON, AB - Cam Talbot couldn't help but praise the performance of backup netminder Laurent Brossoit - who came in relief for the Oilers starting goalie against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

"He did an excellent job out there," Talbot said Sunday. "If it wasn't for him, I don't think we would have had a chance to come back and tie the game at the end there."

Brossoit was perfect in almost 38 minutes played, stopping all 19 shots directed at him. Because of the backup's outing, the Oilers came close to tying the match but failed to tuck the equalizer.

"Unfortunately, we didn't pot one but if not for some big saves from him on 2-on-1s and breakaways, we don't even get that opportunity," said Talbot.

"He did a hell of a job coming in and he's been looking real good."
