One player of the bunch to make an impression recently is Slepyshev. The forward has a goal and an assist in his last two games.
I think there's three factors here," said McLellan. "One is we have got to keep players alive. What I mean by that is we have to keep players engaged, we have to reward them for the work they're doing in practice. We have a lot of bodies here now, but that's something we chose to do. Two, we look at the opponent and the way they're going to play the game and how they're structured. Then three, it's based on performance.
"Some guys get an opportunity and they take the ball and the run with it a little. Slepyshev I think is a guy like that right now. He's played well his two games and we've asked from those types of players to be consistent and give us more than two or three games. In Anton's case, he'll likely get another opportunity to build on what he's done and we'd like to see that happen."
