Oilers forward Ryan Jones travelled with the team to Calgary today. He won’t play tonight but skated this morning and said he is feeling fine.
“Normal. I don’t feel anything,” said Jones when asked how he felt. “To be honest, after about half an hour (after the incident) I felt pretty much normal. For a little while I was woozy I guess you could say.”
Last Saturday during morning skate, Jones collided with Andrew Ference in front of the net and was knocked out cold. He had to be helped off the ice.
“I do remember it. It was just a weird situation. It was like my body went into protection mode. It’s not like I had a huge brain-rattling accident or anything like that. I really have no explanation. Like I said, about half an hour after it was just like nothing happened. The next day, no headaches no nothing. The next day, same thing. Then I started riding the bike.”
When asked when he might play again, Jones said that was up to the coaches.
