BLOG: Oilers welcoming a change of scenery

Upcoming road trip is being welcomed as an opportunity to get away and adjust

EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers will visit the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins on their upcoming three-game jaunt but that isn't deterring the squad from welcoming the challenge.

"Going on the road is the best thing for us right now," said Eric Gryba. "On the road, you have to earn things a lot more playing in a home team's barn... It'll be good getting back to the fundamentals and basics to learn how to win again."

The difficulty will be elevated but the Oilers are viewing the getaway as a blessing in disguise.

"It's going to be a tough trip, we're playing against a lot of really gifted offensive players," said Oilers rearguard Darnell Nurse. "It'll be a test as a group to be able to play a good defensive sound game from start to finish."

The Oilers have dropped four straight decisions. Three of the four games have been played at Rogers Place, so a new change of scenery could benefit the club.

"It will also be good to get on the road with these guys and to get in a new environment," said Nurse. "Getting on the road and being around the guys all the time can definitely be a positive for us right now."
