EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have drawn the eighth-overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft following the results of Tuesday's Draft Lottery in Toronto.
The Oilers had the seventh-best odds of picking first overall at 6.5 per cent entering the lottery.
Last season, the Oilers won the 10th-overall pick and selected defenceman Evan Bouchard from the OHL's London Knights. The Oakville, Ontario blueliner currently leads the OHL in playoff points with four goals and 14 assists in seven games.
In the past five seasons, the Oilers have drawn 10th, 22nd, 4th, 1st, and 3rd respectively, selecting Connor McDavid with the first-overall pick in 2015.
The 2019 NHL Draft will take place on June 21-22 in Vancouver.
