BLOG: Oilers shock Canadiens

by Meg Tilley / Edmonton Oilers

It was a comeback the Montreal Canadiens didn’t see coming.

According to Canadiens Captain Max Pacioretty, it should also have been a comeback that should never have been.

“In the second period we got fancy, got all confident, stopped putting pucks on net,” he said.

“Our game is putting pucks on net, working hard on the forecheck, digging for pucks, 50/50 battles, it wasn’t there after the first period and that’s on every one of us. We’ve got to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

After finishing the first period with a 3-0 lead, Pacioretty said that he and his teammates got too comfortable.

“We’ve got to make sure it doesn’t happen again. There’s not much to say other than that. We took our foot off the gas, we think we’re untouchable when we get up in the lead like that. But we have a game tomorrow, we’ve got to come back and prove that this was a fluke and that’s not our thing.”
