The Edmonton Oilers have claimed Luke Gazdic off of waivers from the Dallas Stars.
Gazdic, a former 6th round pick by the Stars, is a 24 year-old forward out of Toronto, ONT. At six-foot-four and 240 pounds, Gazdic adds size and physicality to the Oilers lineup.
Gazdic played 59 games with the Texas Stars last season, scoring four goals and seven assists while serving 80 penalty minutes.
The Oilers got a glimpse of Gazdic on Friday night during their exhibition game in Oklahoma City. The forward scored a goal in that game and finished plus-two with two penalty minutes for Dallas.
This move comes just days after physical forward Steve MacIntyre injured his knee in OKC and after the team place Ryan Hamilton and Philip Larsen on waivers this morning.
