Oilers forward Tyler Pitlick suffered an undisclosed injury in the team’s intrasquad scrimmage at training camp yesterday.
“Pitlick’s just held back,” said Oilers Coach Todd Nelson. “The doctors are going to take a look at him and see how he is.”
That means rookie, Greg Chase, who had a successful Rookie Camp and Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C. will slide in to Pitlick’s place on a line with Will Acton and Ben Eager.
Down a forward, the Oilers moved Derek Nesbitt into the lineup. Nesbitt, who originally was not tagged to play in either preseason game, got the call last night that he would be headed to Calgary.
Nesbitt has very little time to get on the same page with linemates Travis Ewanyk and Ty Bilcke but he feels chemistry is not an issue.
“I don’t think you can ever really create it, it’s either there or it isn’t,” said Nesbitt. “It’s something you can work on whether it’s just timing or feel but that’s where the word ‘chemistry’, you have it or you don’t. Maybe we can find some early.”
The line combinations from the morning skate were:
Hamilton - Gagner - Eberle
Perron - Gordon - Jones
Bilcke - Ewanyk - Nesbitt
Eager - Acton - Chase
