Vegas Golden Knights GM George McPhee says his team is "going to need veteran players"

Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee is preparing for what will be a busy month of June.

At the 2017 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo, NY, McPhee spoke to the media regarding the Expansion Draft and 2017 NHL Draft.

McPhee emphasized the need for his club to acquire some veteran players.

"We're going to need a little bit of everything," said McPhee. "Some young players and some young assets but we're going to need veteran players. We want to have a really competitive team. Veteran players can provide some leadership."

The Golden Knights own the sixth-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. McPhee commented on the scenarios that could arise in the month of June when the Expansion Draft and 2017 NHL Draft get under way.

"We're going to take a look at everything," said McPhee. "We've planned as much as a club can plan for this. We know the players really well. But again, if you're telling me we're going to stockpile goaltenders, we could go to a team and like the goalie but like a defenceman better. That's why we needed three days to do this (and) 72 hours. Because we're going to get a look at it and go through it and be different than our mock drafts.

"This one is real."
