EDMONTON, AB - Yohann Auvitu skated on the fourth line at practice Monday and Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan elaborated on exploring the option of playing Auvitu as a forward.
"When he's played on the back end, he's had a want to get up and go," said McLellan. "I think he has the skills to do it. We may insert him into that position."
The decision ultimately hinges on the overall performance of the group. The Oilers have lost three straight since coming out of the Christmas break.

Auvitu, due to his capability to push forward or defend, provides in-game versatility.
"We haven't been good as a team," said McLellan. "Our back end hasn't been really good. You can see the effects of some of the guys being hurt now getting three or four games underneath them trying to find their game.
"Maybe at times having seven (defencemen) in the lineup may not a bad thing so he can rove up and back."
