EDMONTON, AB -Over the last few days, North America has been rocked by tragic events - including one right here in the city of Edmonton.
Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan took a moment after practice Monday to address the suspected terrorist attack in Edmonton, which took place late Saturday evening, and the deadly shooting in Las Vegas last night.
"Before we go to the hockey part of it, I think I should, on behalf of the organization and players and everybody involved in OEG, recognize the (Edmonton Police Service) here for the great job they did on the weekend," McLellan said. "We're thinking about the victims of that tragedy here in our city and they're part of our team. We consider all the fans a part of our team. We hope they all heal well, and of course with the tragedy in Vegas we're all thinking about that too. It's hit our team, we're all aware of it and prayers go out to everybody."
