A large group of Oilers players have converged on Rogers Place for informal skates, ahead of main camp.
Team Captain Connor McDavid arrived on Friday, joining his teammates on the community rink. It's been a shorter summer than usual for McDavid, who helped lead the Oil to a playoff berth last season.
"It definitely flew by, but I guess that's a good thing," said McDavid. "Having a little bit of a run in the playoffs makes that happen and that's always a good thing. We're happy to get back and get going."
Oilers players have been motivating each other all off-season via social media, showing off how they're keeping in shape. McDavid says he's noticed the fitness gains made by his fellow Oilers.
"A bunch of the guys look good," he said. "They definitely had a lot of hard work in the off-season and everyone looks good."
