EDMONTON, AB - Four season openers.

Four season-opening hat tricks.

Oilers Captain Connor McDavid, Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds, Washington Capitals sniper Alex Ovechkin and Chicago Blackhawks winger Brandon Saad made it rain hats in their respective 2017-18 openers, something that's been done only once before - 100 years ago.

"It's a good sign for the League," said Oilers centre Mark Letestu. "Offence is something the fans want. Not in our case but around the League, the power play increase probably helps the numbers."

Letestu did say that the early increase in goals could also be a by-product of a young season.

"Things may come back to Earth here once teams get more structured and get a few more practices under their belt. It's just early and guys are capitalizing," he said.

"I'm pretty proud our team had one of the guys included."
