EDMONTON, AB -As fellow Burnaby, BC, natives, it comes as no surprise to see that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Joey Laleggia are good friends.
The two are childhood comrades and for the first time at Oilers Training Camp on Saturday, got to play alongside one another - with their right winger being 2016 fourth-overall selection Jesse Puljujarvi.
"He grills me quite a bit," Laleggia said when he was asked if Nugent-Hopkins shared any tips on being a forward, the position Laleggia now plays full-time. "He's been one of my best friends growing up but it was pretty special to play with him today."
Although they may have only been paired together due to Jussi Jokinen's absence from the scrimmage, Laleggia hopes the two can link up again in the future.
"I hope the opportunity keeps presenting itself but he's been a good friend my whole life."
