EDMONTON, AB -Despite dropping three straight games, the Oilers are confident in their ability to turn things around quickly. As some may forget, the Oilers may have started 7-1-0 last season but they had losing streaks of three and five games in November. They were able to bounce back just fine from those.
The players see dips in seasons all the time, but given the amount of losses in such a small sample size, the tough outings are magnified. It takes one shift, one period, one game to get things turned around.
"Through an 82-game season there's going to be ups and downs," said Oilers winger Zack Kassian. "Obviously, you want to snap out of losing streaks quick as that's what you have to do to be successful. At these times, we've got to stick together and we'll come out of it. We're a confident group in here that we'll start with one period, start with a game and build off that."
It's a long season. Of course, Edmonton would like to immediately go on a run to erase the negatives, but whenever the righting of the ship comes it will be because of working hard and getting back to what made them so successful last season.
"It's pretty easy," said Kassian. "We know what we're capable of. We know we're a better team than the way we've been playing. We've got to get back to basics. I know one thing, and that's we believe in each other."
Edmonton looks to get back in the win column Tuesday night, at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.
