Not only were the forward lines shuffled up on Sunday, the defence pairings were as well likely in anticipation of the return to the lineup of Kris Russell.
Darnell Nurse was paired up with Russell while Caleb Jones and Adam Larsson skated together.
Jones was asked about teaming up with Larsson.
"He talks. He's obviously a veteran player. He's a defensive, stay-at-home guy and I think he can help me in my own zone. He can help me grow my game down there," said Jones. "I think I'll be able to open up offensively, too. He's really solid in his own zone. It'll be good to learn from him and have a little bit of a mentor in him."
Whether Jones would change his game playing with Larsson and on the left side as opposed to the right where he's played most of this season, he said for the most part he wouldn't.
"I kind of try to play the same way, especially offensively. I try to get shots on goal. That's been a theme of mine this year to get more shots. On the left side it's a little easier for the puck coming in on my forehand so I can get a shot off quicker so that's one thing I'd do a little bit differently in the offensive zone so I can get more shots off."
Larsson was looking forward to being a mentor to Jones.
"Caleb has been coming in here and playing well. It's going to be fun to play with him," he began, adding that it's always an adjustment to change who you're paired with, no matter who that may be.
"You build some connections with certain guys. I've been with Klef most of the year and Darnell lately. Seeing Russell get back is huge for this team."
