Jack Quinn is the seventh-ranked North American skater and as such is on the radar of the New Jersey Devils, who hold the seventh pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Doing their due dilligence, the Devils have connected several times with the offensive forward.
I think it went well both times. They were good interviews," said Quinn of his meet-ups with the Devils.
He has some added familiarity with the club, with four teammates who were Devils property: Graeme Clarke, Mitch Hoelscher, Kevin Bahl and Nikita Okhotyuk. In particular, he has spent and continues to spend a lot of time with Clarke, who he trains with in the off-season.
"I talk to him about how cool it would be to go to the same organization," said Quinn.
Quinn made massive strides this past season compared to the year before, scoring 40 more goals and 57 more points, rising to 52 goals and 89 points for the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League.
He was asked about the reasons for his outstanding improvement.
"It started with a great summer in the gym," Quinn stated. "That led to me being in great shape and being comfortable with myself. The puck started going in. (Head Coach Andre Tourigny) was hard on me to get to the inside and be hard to play against. I worked on that and I think it was a big difference for me."
Quinn is expected to make even more strides after a much longer than expected summer to trai.
"Trying to stay safe and use it as a good opportunity with a longer off-season to get a lot stronger and work on my game more."
