Gustav Forsling is happy to be back in the NHL. After playing five games down in the American Hockey League for the Rockford IceHogs, the defenseman was recalled on Tuesday.
He is reunited with his former coach, Jeremy Colliton, who Forsling says helped bring his game to another level during Rockford's postseason.
"He was a big part of why we went so far last year with the run with the IceHogs," said Forsling, who played 13 games in the team's run to the Western Conference Final earlier this year.
"I felt he helped me a lot to get my game to be at the top. I felt like I did very good in the playoffs down there and he helped me a lot there."
Colliton's impact on Forsling's game reached beyond fundamentals and was more about inspiring him to be more consistent.
"He just wanted me to be consistent and show up every night and play good defensively every night and show up," said Forsling. "I felt he brought that out of me."
