Win 1 is in the bag.
On to the next one.
"It's one of those things where there's a lot of nerves, a lot of energy in the building and to come away with a home-opener win is nice," said Oilers forward Zack Kassian. "It's nice for us, it's nice for our fans and it's nice for the city but we know there's a long road ahead."

The Flames placed 26 shots on goaltender Cam Talbot and baited the Oilers into allowing 16 giveaways. Many of the shots were from low-scoring areas of the ice and the team's defence did a sound job of shutting down the Flames' offence.
"That's probably the most promising thing from our perspective," said Kassian. "Normally when we play these first 10 or so games, you give up a lot of chances trying to figure out systems and miscommunications and what not. Last night there wasn't too much of that."
The Oilers meet the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday and hope to make it two straight to start the 2017-18 campaign.
