BLOG: Dubnyk on proving himself

by Chris Wescott / Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Devan Dubnyk has taken a good amount of criticism for his start to the season.

However, the back-stop has strung together two strong games in hopes of proving himself for his teammates.

"It feels really good to do it for these guys," said Dubnyk. "I obviously haven't given them the best effort. It's easy to try and go out there and be someone else. Everybody starts talking about how you can't do it and they need somebody else, and it's really easy to start doubting yourself. But the last couple games I've just tried to go out there and be myself. I know I can do the job. It was fun to get back to that."

Likewise, his teammates wanted to get a win for their goaltender.

"He's kind of been the brunt of the criticism," said Eberle. "It's great to see him do well. He played outstanding the last two games and to reward him with the win tonight is key."

Dubnyk has made 72 saves in the last two games.
