EDMONTON, AB - In search of a scoring spark, Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett found himself playing with fire Tuesday at Rogers Place.
Tabbed as the DYNamite Line by Oilers fans, the bench boss wedged Leon Draisaitl between Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kailer Yamamoto at practice, reuniting a trio that exploded offensively during the 2019-20 National Hockey League campaign.
Nugent-Hopkins, Draisaitl and Yamamoto formed in January of 2020 when the Oilers held a 21-17-4 showing. The triad was a major factor in Edmonton going 16-8-5 the rest of the year and concluding the schedule with a 37-25-9 record before the NHL Pause. The unit's best body of work came during February when the three combined for 53 points.
