EDMONTON, AB - Some Oilers had positive finishes to their season while others had down years.
Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli assessed the performance of a number of players at his media availability on Wednesday.
He began with Milan Lucic.
"First, I'm confident that he can get back to where the expectations lay for him," said Chiarelli. "He's got to obviously produce more."
The Oilers GM pinpointed facets that Lucic struggled with this season.
"There was a lot of areas in his game that were sub-par: Finishing, his defensive zone play," said Chiarelli. "But he's still young in the big picture. He's of tremendous character.
"We talked specifically about where he has to improve. Where his game has to be as the overall NHL game progresses and advances, and he's committed to doing it. I've seen that commitment before and I would expect it again."
