Oilers fans were treated to a show of superb goaltending tonight as Richard Bachman made 47 saves, including three in overtime, in the team's 2-1 shoot-out loss.
What makes the Oilers backstop's effort even more impressive was that it came on the same day that he was called up from the minors.
"Bacher was great tonight," said Boyd Gordon. "He made some big saves and kept us in the game. He was our best player tonight."
“It was a fantastic job by him," said Oilers Captain Andrew Ference. "It’s a very tough team to play against for a goalie they stuff a lot of pucks around the net. It was a great performance by him. “
Bachman withstood a flurry of pressure by the Kings in the third period, stopping 23 shots in the final frame.
"You do get in a groove, but at this level, with this league, these guys are good, you can’t relax too much," said Bachman. "You know, you’re feeling it out there, you feel good, you’re seeing it but you got to stay alert because these guys, if you get too comfortable, they’ll make you pay quickly.”
