ATCO presents the Edmonton Oilers training camp 2006 starts Thursday

The Edmonton Oilers head out into Oil Country this week to open ATCO presents the Edmonton Oilers training camp 2006 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This years Training Camp will feature 53 players in on-ice sessions at the Coca-Cola Centre from Friday, September 15th to Sunday, September 17th, as well as a number of special events.

  • The Oilers 27th NHL training camp will open on Thursday, September 14th with the players undergoing medicals and fitness testing at the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic at the University of Alberta.

    The 33 forwards, 15 defencemen and five goaltenders will practice from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on both Friday-Saturday, September 15th-16th at the Coca-Cola Centre in Grande Prairie. The "ATCO Training Camp in Grande Prairie" culminates with the Joey Moss Cup championship game being played at 12 Noon on Sunday, September 17th.

    While in Grande Prairie, members of the Edmonton Oilers team and coaching staff will also visit fans at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, participate in a Minor Hockey Coaching Clinic along with Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta, and attend a formal banquet to raise funds for numerous Grande Prairie charities.

    The Oilers open their 2006-07 NHL pre-season schedule on Sunday, September 17th as they travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba to play the Phoenix Coyotes at the MTS Centre at 6:00 pm (MDT). It is the first of eight pre-season games for the Oilers. Edmonton will then return home to open their home schedule with pre-season games versus the Florida Panthers (Monday, September 18th) and Phoenix (Tuesday, September 19th) at 7:00 pm at Rexall Place. The Oilers will also host the Calgary Flames (Saturday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm) and the Vancouver Canucks (Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00 pm).
