Like the derrick descending from the roof or the stick salute at the end of a successful game, the Edmonton Oilers 50/50 program is an exciting aspect of every home game at Rexall Place.
With the highest average 50/50 prize of all Canadian NHL teams, it takes a dedicated group of volunteers to make the program a success night after night. Each season, charitable organizations have the opportunity to participate in the excitement!
50/50 applications for the 2013-14 are now being accepted! Before applying for your group to participate, please read the guidelines below to make sure your organization will be able to fulfill the commitments.
Charitable organizations chosen to participate in the Oilers 50/50 program for the 2013-14 season will be asked to supply 57-60 volunteers. From selling tickets on the concourse using the new handheld units to counting cash or assisting with one of the other count room duties, there are a variety of volunteer opportunities available.
Volunteers are asked to arrive 2.5 hours before puck drop and work into the third period of play, for a total time commitment of approximately 5 hours.
Prior to the beginning of the season, the Executive Director or Volunteer Coordinator of all selected charities are invited to attend an information session where more details about the program will be provided.
As a thank you for providing volunteers to run the 50/50, charitable groups will receive up to $8,000 for their group and reimbursement for bussing costs up to $1,500.
*Please note that these proceeds may only be used for programs currently approved for by Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
