– Tonight the Edmonton Oilers, Oilers Ladies and Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation joined the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative to raise $100,000 for local cancer charities. The second annual Rally Against Cancer fundraiser, run by the Oilers Ladies and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, gave fans the chance to purchase limited edition Oiler scarves which came complete with signed player cards.
“Oilers fans generously stepped up to the plate tonight in support of Rally Against Cancer, this will represent a significant donation to cancer care and research facilities in Northern Alberta,” said Natalie Minckler, EOCF Executive Director. “In the Rally Against Cancer’s inaugural year we raised over $100,000 and we’re thrilled to once again reach this target.”
Throughout the month of October, each NHL team will be running a fundraiser in support of the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer which raised $11 million annually. The Edmonton Oilers Rally Against Cancer will donate all proceeds of the in-game fundraiser and the Rally Against Cancer Online Auction to Kids with Cancer Society, the Lois Hole Hospital and the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
The Rally Against Cancer Online Auction begins on October 26 and features over 100 lot items ranging from a set of 2010-11 game-worn team signed jerseys to the limited edition scarves. Visit edmontonoilers.com to bid on these great items before November 9 at 8:00pm when the auction closes.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) is dedicated to building strong and vibrant communities by contributing its resources and financial support to charitable organizations that serve the residents of Oil Country.
