Defenseman Marek Zidlicky agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Islanders on Friday. No financial terms were disclosed, but Newsday reported the deal is worth $1.5 million.
Zidlicky, 38, had seven goals and 34 points last season with the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings. He had no points in six Stanley Cup Playoff games for Detroit.
The native of Most, Czech Republic, was selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round (No. 176) of the 2001 NHL Draft. He has 85 goals, 401 points and 660 penalty minutes in 783 NHL games with the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Devils and Red Wings. Zidlicky also has one goal and 15 points in 44 playoff games.
