Zgraggen scores in overtime as Victoria Royals win 4-3 over Kelowna Rockets @NHLdotcom

VICTORIA - Jesse Zgraggen scored in overtime and Kevin Sundher had a four-point night as the Victoria Royals won 4-3 over the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Thirty-five seconds into the overtime period Zgraggen buried the one-timer to win the game for the Royals.

On the very first shift of the game Royals forward Robin Soudek scored his eighth of the season at 00:19 of the first giving Victoria the early advantage. Kelowna responded at 15:05 with a short-handed goal by Shane McColgan to make it 1-1.

Sundher scored his fourth of the season at 16:33 of the second period to regain the advantage for Victoria (6-5-0). But just over a minute later Kelowna forward Tyson Baillie scored his third of the season to pull the Rockets even going into the third.

Midway through the third Kelowna?s Cody Chikie jammed the puck past Royals goalie Keith Hamilton to give the Rockets (3-4-1) the first lead of the game, 3-2.

Victoria responded on the power play thirty seconds later as the Captain Hayden Rintoul scored at 10:02 of the third period tying the game at 3-3.

Hamilton made 30 saves for the victory while Rockets net minder Jordon Cooke made 32 saves in the loss.
