Zdeno Chara

Zdeno Chara has left the Boston Bruins' road trip to have his leg injury evaluated by doctors in Boston.

The 41-year-old defenseman was injured in the first period of a 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. His left leg appeared to buckle when he collided with Avalanche forward Carl Soderberg.
Chara has four points (three goals, one assist) in 18 games this season, his 21st in the NHL.
Boston is also without defensemen Brandon Carlo (upper body), Charlie McAvoy (concussion), Kevan Miller (hand) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion).

The Bruins next play Friday at the Dallas Stars.
Chara has played 1,441 NHL games, has 632 points (198 goals, 434 assists) and is plus-243.
This is his 13th season with the Bruins, following four with the New York Islanders and four with the Ottawa Senators. He was a third-round pick (No. 56) in the 1996 NHL Draft by New York.
