Chara

Zdeno Chara
spread holiday cheer throughout Boston in the form of hundreds of pies.

The NHL defenseman Chara took more than 200 pies to four Boston-area charities Tuesday on behalf of the Boston Bruins, keeping their tradition of food delivery going for the 12th consecutive year.

He has represented the Bruins each of the past three years. The tradition started with former defenseman Dennis Wideman in 2009.
Chara thought it was important to bring food to those in need, particularly given the challenges people are going through during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"All of us are going through some challenging times," Chara told the Bruins website. "I think this is a time that people really need the support."
Chara and the Bruins weren't the only NHL team sending holiday cheer this November. Marc-Andre Fleury, Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault, Ryan Reaves and other members of the Vegas Golden Knights handed out free turkeys and fixings to families in need in Southern Nevada.

Some of the players even helped push carts for people as they collected their items.

The Nashville Predators, in partnership with the Metro Nashville Police Department, brought meals to families in need and those affected by the horrific tornado that struck the region in March.

The Carolina Hurricanes and mascot Stormy teamed up with The Food Shuttle to donate more than 1,400 pounds of turkey to families in need.

Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel donated meals to
Kevin Guest House
of Buffalo, a healthcare hospitality house that provides a home-away-from-home for patients and families traveling for medical care.

And staying in the giving spirit but away from the dinner table, the Los Angeles Kings gave out mobile Wi-Fi hotspots and laptops to families in South Los Angeles to help with challenges associated with distance learning.
