Zajac's goal stands up as Albany Devils defeat Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2

ALBANY, N.Y. - Darcy Zajac's goal in the third period stood up as the winner as the Albany Devils defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 on Saturday in the American Hockey League.

Joe Whitney and Mike Sislo scored the other goals for Albany (4-6-0), while Jeff Frazee made 21 saves for the win.

Olivier Fortier and Garrett Stafford scored for the Bulldogs (4-3-0).

The Devils opened the scoring at 13:28 of the first period as Nathan Perkovich slid a pass to Whitney in the slot who one-timed a shot past Hamilton starting goalie Robert Mayer.

Albany extended their lead by two at 14:24 of the second period, as Sislo dove and went flying through the air and backhanded the airborne puck under Mayer and in the net.

The Bulldogs got on the board at 8:18 of the final period when Fortier took a long shot on the devils net and the puck bounced around before going in the net past Frazee.

Zajac scored at 14:09 of the third period. Vladimir Zharkov passed the puck to Zajac on a 2-on-1 and he wired a shot past Mayer.

The ?Dogs added another goal at 17:32 on a power play goal by Stafford.
