Kassian Nemeth bought out by ARI

Zack Kassian and Patrik Nemeth were each placed on unconditional waivers by the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday for the purpose of buying out the final season of their respective contracts. Each will become an unrestricted free agent.

Kassian, a 32-year-old forward, had two goals and was minus-18 in 51 games this season, his first with the Coyotes after he was traded to Arizona by the Edmonton Oilers on July 7, 2022. The first-round pick by the Buffalo Sabres (No. 13) in the 2009 NHL Draft has 203 points (92 goals, 111 assists) in 661 regular-season games for the Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Oilers and Coyotes. He has nine points (six goals, three assists) in 45 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Nemeth, a 31-year-old defenseman, had five assists and was minus-7 in 75 games. The Coyotes acquired him from the New York Rangers on July 13, 2022. He has 70 points (10 goals, 60 assists) in 504 games for the Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche, Rangers and Coyotes, and two assists in 33 playoff games.
