'yab0yfrank' wins EA Sports NHL 23 Stadium Series Final

RALEIGH -- Jacob 'yab0yfrank' Franken, who represented the NHL's Florida Panthers during competition, won the inaugural EA SPORTS NHL 23 Stadium Series Open Final tonight at the Truly Hard Seltzer NHL® PreGame festivities at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C. Frank was presented with a Stadium Series-branded champion's Hurricane flag and $2,000 prize by Carrlyn Bathe and Cameron 'NoSleeves' Halbert following the competition that wrapped up prior to the hometown Carolina Hurricanes taking on the Washington Capitals.

Game 1 of the championship match was one for the NHL23 World Championship record book and an instant NHL23WC classic. Franken took on boilyxhp-- (Francois-Xavier Boily) in a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair where both players produced multi-goal comebacks and last-minute heroics. After being down 6-1 in the second period, Boily stormed back to tie the contest and later took a 7-6 lead with one minute left in regulation. Yab0yfrank later tied the score 13 seconds later and captured an 8-7 victory following a quick overtime tally.
Game 2 of the Final was a chess match after the players traded leads late in the game. Down 6-4, Yab0yfrank scored two goals in the final 0:21 to tie the game and force yet another overtime period. In a must-win situation, Boily didn't waste any time putting the puck in the back of the net to force a third-and-deciding game.
Yab0yfrank jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in Game 3 and Boily was never quite able to recover. He cut the lead in half by scoring one at the end of the first period before giving up two in the second. With a ruckus crowd and cold hands, the NHL 23 Stadium Series Championship game ended in a 5-2 win for 'Ya b0y Frank', who will add a first LAN win to his growing esports resume.
In his semifinal match, yab0yfrank-- only needed two games to dispose of No. 2-ranked dodsyyy- (Dylan Dodson) to secure his place in the Championship. Yab0yfrank scored four goals in the third period of Game 1 to tie the game 4-4 and then added the game-winning goal late in the game. In what's becoming his personal trait, Yab0y out-hit his opponent 15-1 in the first game alone and continued the trend in Game 2. In a high-scoring, series-deciding game, Dods and Yab0yfrank traded goals, before the latter netted two unanswered tallies late the third period to take the win 6-4 and the series 2-0.
