SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Geordie Wudrick scored 1:37 into overtime to lift the Swift Current Broncos to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Red Deer Rebels.
Wudrick now has six goals on the season, including three game-winning markers.
The Rebels had scored twice in the third period to force overtime, with Brandon Sutter scoring the tying goal with 3:48 left in regulation.
Broncos captain Zack Smith scored once and set up another to help lead Swift Current to its second consecutive home ice victory in the newly opened Credit Union iplex. Erik Felde struck for his team-leading seventh of the season, with import forward David Stieler adding a single.
Red Deer also had goals from Joel Kot and Scott Doucet.
Broncos rookie goaltender Ian Curtis is a perfect 2-0 to start the season after turning aside 17 of 20 shots in the win.
Rebels netminder James Reimer stopped 26 of 30 shots while falling to 1-3-1-0 on the year.
Swift Current has won their first two home games of the season while improving their East Division leading record to 7-2-0-1. Red Deer remains last in the Central Division at 3-6-1-0 and they are winless in their last five games.
